Why UX/UI

UX/UI design is about results

UX/UI design (designing the user experience and the user interface) decides whether a visitor finds what they are looking for, understands your offer and takes action. We treat it as a matter of results: sales, quote requests, sign-ups, or the daily use of an internal tool.

E-commerce is where we have learned the most about what makes people convert, since 2010. We apply these lessons to every project: mobile apps, brand websites, business platforms and interfaces connected to your data (ERP, CRM, middleware, AI assistants). With one team in Europe and one in Asia, we know the users of both continents, and our working days cover both time zones.

What we design

What we design

  • E-commerce websites

(Magento, Hyvä, WooCommerce, PrestaShop): product pages, search, cart and checkout.

  • Mobile apps

For iOS and Android: from the audit to the interactive prototype handed over to developers, as for the Yummix app.

  • Brand websites

Art direction and immersive experience, as for Hotels G.

  • Business tools and back offices

Interfaces for your teams, connected to your ERP, your CRM or AI assistants, for example to enrich your product pages with AI.

  • Accessibility

Interfaces everyone can use, following WCAG (the international web accessibility standard), as on the WordPress redesign for a large French group.

Method

Three steps, concrete deliverables

  1. 01

    Understand your users

We start from your data and your real users, not from assumptions. This step answers three questions: who are your users, what are they looking for, and when do they give up?

    • A UX audit of your current site or app: analytics, journeys, friction points
    • User interviews and online surveys
    • A UX benchmark (comparative analysis of your competitors)
    • Personas (typical profiles of your users)
    • The user journeys to design, ranked by priority
  2. 02

Design the experience and the interface

With your teams, we turn these findings into screens. We first draw the page structure (wireframes), then the final interface in Figma. It relies on a design system: a library of reusable components that keeps the product consistent and speeds up development. We also use current AI tools (Freepik’s AI suite, image and text generators) to explore more design directions and produce visuals faster. AI speeds things up; our designers decide.

    • UX workshops with your teams
    • Site structure and navigation flows
    • High-fidelity wireframes
    • Final mock-ups in Figma
    • A documented design system
    • An interactive prototype, the single reference for developers
  3. 03

    Test, then improve

We test the prototype with real users before development: fixing a journey on a mock-up takes a few hours, fixing it in code takes weeks. After launch, we measure and adjust.

    • User tests, in person or online
    • A/B tests (two versions compared on real visitors)
    • Journey analysis: analytics, session recordings
    • Recommendations ranked by impact and effort

Our approach

Desirability, viability, feasibility

The diagram above sums up our approach. A good interface sits where three requirements meet: what your users want (desirability), what serves your business goals (viability) and what can be built, in design and in code (feasibility).

Where they overlap, they give our four working principles: UX and innovation at the centre; empathy and trust between users and business goals; creativity and usability between users and design; rationality and consistency between business goals and design.

The 5 S: from strategy to interface

Every project goes through five planes, from the most abstract to the most concrete. Each one produces its deliverables, which we approve with you before moving on to the next.

FAQ

Your questions about UX/UI design

How long does it take to design the UX/UI of an app or an e-commerce site?

A few weeks for a mobile app foundation: on Yummix, design sprints delivered a validated interactive prototype in 10 days. A large e-commerce catalogue takes longer. The audit and the first workshops set the scope.

Why design the UX before developing?

Because changing a journey in a prototype costs hours, while changing it in code costs weeks. Journeys validated with users and your team remove most of the delivery risk.

What is a design system, and why use one?

A library of reusable components, from buttons to complete screens. It keeps the product consistent as it grows and speeds up development.

Can Sutunam design and let another team develop?

Yes. On Yummix, Bear Studio developed the app from our interactive prototype. We can also develop it ourselves, on Magento, Hyvä or Symfony.

How do you take accessibility into account?

We apply the WCAG guidelines (the international web accessibility standard) from the design stage: contrast, text sizes, keyboard navigation, readable forms.
